Training Module Descriptions

Role of an End-of-Life Doula

This course provides the history and role of an End Of Life Doula. It focuses on specific ways to support individuals and their loved ones on the end of life journey.

Doula practice is non-regulated at this time but they have national and international Associations and Alliances that have clearly defined the Code of Ethics and the Scope of Practice for EOL Doulas.

This module presents information about Advanced Care Planning, Health care decision makers, Power of Attorney for Health Care, and Providers Order for Life Sustaining Treatment. Doulas will learn how to best approach this subject with their clients.

In this module, you’ll learn essential tools for presence and self-grounding to meet others with compassion and empathy. Discover rituals for centering yourself, techniques for active listening, and effective communication strategies for difficult conversations. Enhance your ability to support and connect with those at the end of life.

In this module you will learn how to engage individuals in Life Review and Legacy projects.

This course explores how doulas can help prepare for and navigate the challenges of supporting a death at home, allowing individuals to die in a familiar, comfortable setting.

This course teaches the participant non-medical and holistic approaches to help support the client and their family in providing bedside care.

This course teaches the participant what Palliative Care and Hospice means and how the Doula compliments and interfaces with these providers within the context of the Doula role.

This course teaches the participant non-medical techniques to minimize pain and support comfort.

In this module you will learn how to hold vigil with a dying person and how to support the family during this time.

This module identifies personal and general rituals for the dying and their loved ones.

This course is designed to teach the participant how to explore the impact of the residents spiritual/religious practices on their life and how to take this information to determine how it influences their end-of-life decisions.

Options This module covers current funeral trends and burial options, empowering participants to help families make informed decisions that align with the resident’s end-of-life preferences.

This course covers essential information on myths, biology, and life transitions, addressing the needs of those mourning and the impact of a grief-averse culture. Gain insights into the grieving process to better support those left behind, as well as individuals dealing with anticipatory grief. Join us to deepen your understanding and enhance your ability to provide compassionate support.

This course gives participants some tips on how to take care of themselves so they can better take care of others.

This module provides the doula with how to best access community resources for their clients/families.

This specialized module focuses on integrating trauma-informed care principles into end-of-life practices. Explore the latest research on trauma’s impact, learn practical applications for creating safe, supportive environments for others and one’s self, and engage in activities designed to enhance communication and empathy skills. The course aims to deliver the knowledge and tools necessary to address trauma sensitively, ensuring compassionate and effective care throughout the life and dying process.

This training module for end-of-life doulas focuses on the importance of setting and respecting boundaries in the caregiving process. It explores how healthy boundaries promote emotional well-being for both the doula and the client, ensuring compassionate, ethical, and sustainable care throughout the end-of-life journey.
